For those of you who have been keeping up with Lily and her eye patch wearing ways (arrrggghhh!!!), here is the latest update:
We took her back to Raleigh today. Her weak eye is getting better and we will continue the patch for another two months. Then we'll reassess and decide what to do from there. So, no big news to report, but at least her eye sight is getting a little better.
In the meantime, Lily is not having any problems rocking her patch, nor has it hurt her self-confidence.
This girl is a unique creature.
Cam had to wear a patch for a while when he was 2 due to a "lazy" eye (technically the outer muscles were too strong, not lazy, but whatever). It never bothered him, but one time a kid at McDonalds ran away from him screaming and pointing and I wanted to cry. I actually wanted to yell at the kid's mom for not using that moment to teach her kid that some people are different, but I didn't:) Glad Lily's eye is getting better. Cam's still does it when he's tired, but he's learned to control it much better as he gets older!
